Prayer Requests

Ask, and it is carried. An intention sent here is prayed, by name.

People write to us about pieces at the great moments of a life — a child named, a vow spoken, a calling answered, a person remembered. Often the letter contains something else as well: a line at the end, asking to be prayed for.

So this page exists. It is not a service and there is nothing to pay. Write the intention in your own words, in as much or as little as you want to say, and it will be carried at Mass and prayed in the Office. Whatever is received here is held, and held by name where a name is given.

Nothing you write on this page is published. It is read by The Sacred Manuscripts Team and by no one else.

Send an intention

In your own words.

This is not a ticket and there is no queue. Take your time over it.

Anything you write here is read by The Sacred Manuscripts Team and is not published anywhere on this site.

An email address or a phone number, so the request can be acknowledged. Neither is passed to anyone else or added to a mailing list.

Held at Mass and in the Office, and prayed by name.

What happens to it

Written down, carried, and returned to.

I

You write it

In your own words, however plain. A person, a need, a thanksgiving, a thing you have not been able to say out loud. There is no form of words required and no wrong way to put it.

II

It is carried

The intention is taken to Mass and to the Office, and prayed by name where a name is given. This is the work of the house, not an extra: the same hand that sets a piece also keeps the intentions it is asked for.

III

It is kept, not filed away

Every request is written down and returned to, so nothing arrives and is quietly lost. It is read by us and by no one else, and it is not published on this site or passed on to anyone.

You do not have to explain yourself here.

Some intentions arrive in a single line and some in a page. Both are read the same way. If all you can manage is a name, send the name.
